Matthew Newton

We regret to announce that our colleague, Matthew Newton, sadly passed away over the Christmas period following a long illness.

Matthew was a very well-known and respected Costs Lawyer who had practised for over 20 years in the South West. Countless members of the South West legal community will have worked with him over the last two decades. In November 2014, Matthew established the Exeter office of Burcher Jennings and was its branch manager.

We will greatly miss Matthew's professionalism, skill and tenacity as a Costs Lawyer and Advocate as well as his warmth, generosity and good humour. We are sure the same is true for all of his colleagues, clients and many good friends in the profession and beyond. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this very sad time.
